I stumbled onto a slice of surfing paradise in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. A remote little island that hides more than it reveals. Sure, it’s got one famous wave, but the coastline is littered with world-class breaks that don’t make it into glossy surf mags.
It’s not a secret, but it feels like it should be. Getting here isn’t easy. It takes boats, planes, taxis, and a fair bit of stubbornness. What waits on the other side is worth every mile. A sleepy town where time drags, jagged coves with pink sand beaches, and water so clear it looks unreal.
Inshore, the reef shelters calm, turquoise pools, perfect for floating away your hangover. Offshore, it’s a different story. Walls of water rising and detonating on coral, peeling down the line in flawless succession.
In this video, I’ll take you inside this island. Where to crash, what to eat, the local moonshine (sopi) that burns on the way down, and of course, a taste of the waves that make this place legendary.
